Service Line Inspection Program
Service Line Inspection Program Explanation
There are about 11,000 homes in the PVWC service area where the service line material is unknown and could include lead. PVWC and PVWC’s Engineering Consultant, CDM Smith, are doing door-to-door inspections of homes with unknown service line materials.
Before the inspection:
PVWC or CDM Smith will call you or leave a flyer at your door to notify you of a time that an inspection will occur. If you are not available at that time, you can schedule an appointment by calling CDM Smith at (732) 590-4612.
During the inspection:
The inspection process will take about 10 minutes. Inspectors will ask a few question and ask to enter your home and take a photo of the pipe near your water meter, which is typically located in the basement. Before an inspector enters a home, the homeowner or tenant must sign a Right of Entry form to allow entry. Customers can also complete the Right of Entry form digitally on the day of the inspection. Paper Right of Entry forms are also available upon request. If a homeowner is not home, PVWC will try to schedule a second appointment.
All inspectors will carry a PVWC contractor ID badge. You should not let anyone into your home that does not have an ID badge.
